Stuffing: Stuff firmly and evenly as you progress
through the decrease rounds (R19–R22). Focus on
filling out the belly area to maintain a round, plump shape.
Finishing: After R23 , cut the yarn, leaving a 15–20cm tail.
Closing: Thread the tail through a yarn needle and weave it through the front loops only of the remaining 6 stitches. Pull tight to close the hole, then hide the yarn end inside the body.
Back Fins/Spikes
R1: Ch 15
R2: Start from the 2nd chain from hook:
4(1 sl st, 1 sl st, (1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc) in the same stitch), then 2 sl st.
Stuffing: Do not stuff. This part is a flat decorative strip.
Finishing: After completing the final slip stitches of R2, fasten off.
Leg (Make 2)
R1: MR, 6 sc [6]
R2: (1 sc, inc) x 3 [9]
R3: (2 sc, inc) x 3 [12]
R4: 12 sc [12]
Stuffing: Stuff lightly. If overstuffed, the legs will bulge and won't sit flush against the body.
Finishing: After R4, work a slip stitch (sl st) into the next stitch to level the edge.
Tail
R1: MR, 4 sc [4]
R2: (1 sc, inc) x 2 [6]
R3: (1 sc, inc) x 3 [9]
R4: (2 sc, inc) x 3 [12]
R5: (2 sc, inc) x 4 [16]
Stuffing: Stuff the base firmly to help it support the dinosaur’s weight, but use less stuffing toward the tip for a natural taper.
Finishing: After R5, work a slip stitch (sl st) into the next stitch.
Tail: Cut the yarn, leaving a 25cm tail for sewing.
Assembly
1. Positioning the Eyes and Face
Eyes: If you haven't used safety eyes, sew or glue them between R5 and R6, with a distance of 7 stitches between them.
Blush: Use pink powder or fabric tint to lightly dab under the eyes for a cute look, as shown in the sample.
2. Sewing the Legs
Place the two legs at the bottom of the body (around R13 – R15).
Position them slightly forward so the dinosaur can sit stably.
3. Sewing the Tail
Sew the tail to the back of the body, centered between the legs but at a slightly higher row (around R11 – R14) to act as a third support point for standing.
4. Sewing the Back Fins
Place the strip of fins vertically along the spine, starting from the top of the head (just behind the MR of R1) and extending down to the back.
Use a yarn needle to stitch along the center line to ensure the fins stay straight.
5. Finishing Touches
Weave in all remaining yarn ends and hide them inside the body.
You can attach a small keychain loop to the top of the head to use it as a bag charm, as seen in the photo.
